PPT VISION participated in the 2007 European Machine Vision Show on November 6th-8th held at the new Messe Stuttgart in Germany. The show attracted over 5000 visitors this year. It was a great networking event for machine vision end users, integrators, distribution partners and machine vision experts in various industries. PPT VISION showcased several exhibits including the latest IMPACT Software featuring VPM in German and Chinese. Other demo stations included the four-camera Automotive Adhesive Bead Error Proofing Solution, and the two-camera Visikron Terminal Control Station design by EasyControl S.  IMPACT OCR License
 New Price Structure

IMPACT OCR License, Part number PPT098-0223, is now included in the PPT VISION Preferred Supplier Price List. An OCR License must be purchased for each unit of IMPACT hardware for the OCR tool to function accordingly. A license key unique to the IMPACT hardware serial number is issued for each paid license. The OCR tool now functions in Emulator mode with or without a paid license when used with IMPACT Software version 7.3 or greater. The new list price for the OCR License is USD$595.  Sales and Technical Support for the Chinese Market

PPT VISION now has two regional sales offices in China to provide sales and technical support for the Chinese Market. Lu-Chin Mischke, who has been part of the PPT VISION International Sales Development Team for the past decade, is based in Beijing, and Ray Liu, who joined PPT VISION in August, 2007, is based in Shanghai. Ray also has extensive machine vision experience and has been servicing the Chinese MV market for several years before joining PPT VISION.  IMPACT Software Highlights
 Subpixel Resolution

Many of the software tools in IMPACT VPM have subpixel resolution capabilities. These tools include Edge Point Find, Wide Edge Point Find, Subpixel Edge Extractor, Circle Gauge, Circle Edge Refinement, Line Gauge, Line Gauge Datum, Line Gauge Dual ROI, Line Find, Blob and Color Blob. IMPACT Sales and Support representatives are often asked by IMPACT users and perspective IMPACT buyers how accurately IMPACT software algorithms can calculate subpixel points. The truth is, the actual subpixel accuracy depends on various conditions including lighting, consistency of the objects being inspected, quality of the image, lens, optics etc.
In a tightly controlled environment, such as a back-lit object with a clean edge running in a lab, we have obtained subpixel accuracy and repeatability results down to 1/40th of a pixel or better. The tools in IMPACT VPM use different methodologies to extrapolate subpixel data in different calculations, including locating an edge point, locating a blob centroid, and calculating the diameter of a blob.
