2006 PPT VISION Global Partner Conference

The 2006 PPT VISION Global Partner Conference
is only 7 weeks away. In addition to corporate
update, sales and marketing strategies review,
product roadmap, formal award ceremony and dinner
banquet, PPT VISION Partners and Integrators from
around the world will gather during this eventful
function to share ideas and testimonials on actual
PPT selling and installation experiences. Several case
studies have also been selected to be showcased
so attendees get to see first hand what types
of applications have been implemented using PPT
VISION products around the world. In additional, 2
full days of various technical training sessions and
advanced topic forums will be held prior to

Application Corner
Fastener Inspection
In this issue's Application Corner, we are featuring
a fastener inspection application where a PPT
IMPACT Vision Intelligent Camera is performing 10
different inspections on a
single fastener, including head size and features,
length, thread defects such as blanks, spirals and
shorts, point quality, groove quality, missing
washer or more than one washer, adhesives and
mixed parts. This application runs at 1500 parts per
minute with all 10 inspections enabled. The control
panel allows the customer to choose which
inspection to perform depending upon product
configuration with a single mouse click. The vision
program supports recipe management and manual
calibration for quick and easy part change over.
There is also a very explicit image buffer panel that
shows which inspection fails and it's measurement
results.

From time to time, we are presented applications
where more I/O points are needed than what the
IMPACT vision processor currently provides by default
(particularly in web applications, or where products
are inspected in batches). PPT can offer several
solutions in this situation, including adding external
serial I/O module(s), EthernetIP communication over
the Ethernet port, or a direct connection utilizing
breakout boards designed by PPT. In this issue of
E-NEWS, we will be discussing the DGH external
I/O
module, which allows PPT IMPACT cameras to
add additional I/O points in groups of 16, up to a
maximum of 128 discrete I/O points via the
on-board serial port. DGH supplies multiple different
types of modules including both analog and digital
which PPT Vision has developed special Composite
